|
|
Situated in the beautiful upper Nairn River
valley,
Farr Mains is an old farm house with more modern additions. In peaceful rural surroundings, the house is only 9 miles from Inverness and 5 miles from the main A9 road as it approaches that town. |
| The owners of the house are James and Christina Murray who will make you most welcome in their comfortable home. "It is just like having friends to stay", they say. | |
| Farr Mains is ideal for holiday relaxation. Nearby you can explore the fascinating country which lies between Loch Ness and the Monahdliath Mountains, on quiet roads that will show you some real Highland scenery. The house is ideally situated for short trips to Inverness and Loch Ness. Cawdor Castle, Culloden battlefield, Fort George and the Cairngorms are all within easy reach. | |
| For car tours

From the main A9 road, 14 miles north of Aviemore or 5 miles south of Inverness, turn westwards onto the B851, signposted to Fort Augustus. Continue on this road through Inverarnie to Farr. Farr Mains is the second gate on the left after the childrens playground and is signed.
James Murray is retired from the local Highland Regiment and now works in field sports and conservation in the Highlands. Christina, a jack of all trades, is cook, seamstress, beekeeper, gardener and hostess.
The Murrays keep Llamas, Evita and Fredrico who, despite their haughty mean, provide wool which Christina will spin and make you a jersey, if you stay for long enough!
