From Inverness take the A96 road towards Nairn. After 9 1/2 miles turn right on the B9090 through Cawdor. The B9090 turns left to Nairn - carry straight on, the road is now the B9101, ignore the first sign on the right to Geddes and take the second right at the lodge and gate to Geddes House.
James Mackintosh-Walker (known, to his friends as Jamie Mac-Wac), is an estate manager, and a cattle and cereal farmer. His craggy and weather beaten features have, recently, featured in a well known fashion magazine!Your hostess, Elizabeth or Lizzie, is, as mentioned before, a superb cook and she is an accomplished gardener. Her warmth and hospitality has been known to bring tears to the eyes of departing guests!
Geddes house is surrounded by garden and a special feature is the Albertine roses around the house. The walled garden is under development but is attractive at present, with trees, shrubs and perennial plants and a water feature. The vegetable section of the garden is mouth-watering to behold.
The Garden |
The Trout Loch |
There are many easy walks around the house, in deciduous woodland or pleasant farming country. The trout loch, Geddes village, the ancient St.Mary's Church and the ruined Rait castle are all within a mile of the house.
The historic and beautiful Cawdor Castle and gardens are within sight of Geddes House.
